Let’s regain trust: tell compelling and accurate stories

James Tyner, a journalism student at USC wrote on his Medium blog that he doesn’t trust anyone when it comes to news. “These publications’ other motives,” he says, “sometimes make me feel as though telling compelling and accurate stories is only a secondary goal.”

In the blog post, Tyner points to research done by the American Press Institute, which “found that people aged 34 and under choose to pay for news sources that provide good coverage of topics they care about. So why don’t we put that first?”

Tyner opines that online news isn’t made for young people, and points out multiple facets of online journalism that he has a problem with, such as clickbait and poor user experience.
